Our Bees

Our bees are Buckfast bees a very prolific breeder and honey producer, each year we import queens from Italy or Portugal early in the season way before any UK queens are available to make splits to increase our colony numbers and to introduce new blood into our bees.

 

These new queens are introduced to our existing colony of worker bees in a small hive called a Nuc left for 6 weeks to expand until they are placed into a full hive 6 weeks later these same bees are collecting nectar and producing honey.
